Grade 10 homeostasis worksheets

Skills covered

  • Internal vs external change
  • Negative feedback
  • One human example (temperature, blood sugar, or water)
  • Failure of homeostasis as disease

Sample questions and answer key

  1. 1. What is homeostasis?

Answer: Keeping internal conditions in a steady range even when the outside changes.

  2. 2. You go outside in winter. How does negative feedback help you stay warm?

Answer: Sensors detect a drop; you shiver and vessels constrict; temperature rises toward the set point.

  3. 3. Is sweating positive or negative feedback when you are hot? Why?

Answer: Negative. Sweating cools you and reduces the original change (overheating).

  4. 4. Give one example of homeostasis failing.

Answer: Diabetes (blood sugar not held in range) or heat stroke.

Teaching notes

Grade 10 should draw a loop: stimulus → sensor → control center → effector → response. A word bank is fine on the first page.

Cellular respiration is the energy side of the same living system — link it if that is next week's unit.

  1. 1.Compare negative and positive feedback and give one biological example of each.

  2. 2.Why can 'keeping everything constant' be a misleading definition of homeostasis?

  3. 3.How do the nervous and endocrine systems both support homeostasis?

About this page

These Grade 10 homeostasis worksheets ask for a definition, a negative-feedback loop, and one failure example. That is the standard high-school treatment.

Print the four samples or generate a longer PDF. Cellular respiration and cell structure pages in the cluster are the usual next links.
